DONALD CROCKETT Violin Concerto
FARRENC Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano in E-flat major, op. 44
Donald Crockett recently completed a Violin Concerto for a co-commission including the Aspen Music Festival and Oberlin Conservatory. David Bowlin premiered the work as soloist with Timothy Weiss conducting at Oberlin in May, and team up again for this performance. The program also includes the French Romantic composer Louise Farrenc's Clarinet Trio. Farrenc had a successful career as a performer and composer, and was a professor at the Paris Conservatory for over 30 years. After lobbying for 10 years, she was finally paid as much as her male counterparts.
AMFS artist-faculty, all top musicians from renowned orchestras, opera companies, and conservatories, come together to play their favorite chamber music works. Always a joyful and creative 75 minutes of music-making.
