Sharon Isbin, multi Grammy Award-winning guitarist and winner of the Toronto, Munich, and Madrid competitions, gives up to one hundred performances a season. Her latest bestselling Sony release is Sharon Isbin & Friends: Guitar Passions. She received Grammy Awards for her Journey to the New World (2010), for a CD of concertos written for her by Rouse/Tan Dun (2002), and for Dreams of a World (2001), which made her the first classical guitarist to receive the award in twenty-eight years. She received a Latin Grammy nomination for her concerti by Rodrigo/Villa-Lobos/Ponce with the New York Philharmonic, their only guitar recording. Other honors include Germany's Echo Klassik Award, Gramophone's Recording of the Year, and Guitar Player's Best Guitarist award. Ms. Isbin's twenty-five CDs include Bach's complete lute suites, and concertos composed for her by Corigliano, Foss, and Schwantner. She was the featured soloist on Howard Shore's soundtrack to Scorsese's Oscar-winning film The Departed, and has been artistic director-soloist of festivals she created for Carnegie Hall, New York's 92nd Street Y, and NPR. Author of the Classical Guitar Answer Book, she is the founding director of Juilliard's guitar department. The one-hour documentary Sharon Isbin: Troubadour produced by Susan Dangel debuts in 2014. See
