Anneleen Lenaerts, harpist, is making a name for herself as one of the leading soloists of her instrument. In December 2010, she was appointed principal of the Vienna Philharmonic. Lenaerts won an impressive 23 prizes and awards between 1997 and 2010 at international harp competitions in Belgium, France, Austria, Hungary, Spain, the USA, and Germany. Two highlights were the Grand Prix at the Lily Laskine Harp Competition and the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, where she was both an overall prizewinner and winner of the Audience Prize. As a soloist she has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Bavarian Radio, Mozarteum Orchestra, Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, Polish Chamber Orchestra, Collegium Musicum Basel, and National Orchestra of Belgium. Lenaerts made solo debut at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Bozar in Brussels, Casa da Musica in Porto, Herkulessaal in Munich and in festivals such as Rheingau, Pietrasanta in Concerto, and Lockenhaus. She recorded for BBC 3, Radio France Musique, and Deutschlandfunk. After already recording two solo albums, her most recent, featuring harp concerti with the Brussels Philharmonic, was released on Warner Classics.
