The Jupiter String Quartet consists of violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel, and cellist Daniel McDonough. From 2007-2010, they were in residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and just finished a multi-year visiting residency at the Oberlin Conservatory. They are the Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they maintain private studios and run the chamber music program. They concertize around the world and have enjoyed playing in some of the finest halls, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, Jordan Hall, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress, Esterhazy Palace, and  Sejong Chamber Hall. Previously, the Jupiters were awarded first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition and grand prize in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Current projects include a second Beethoven cycle, a Bartok recital, and two upcoming recording projects. In addition to its concert schedule, the group places strong emphasis on developing relationships with future audiences through outreach in school systems and educational performances. They believe that chamber music, because of the intensity of its interplay and communication, is one of the most effective ways of spreading an enthusiasm for classical music to new audiences.
