Nestled in the Castle Creek Valley surrounded by pristine nature, the Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum Campus is a unique setting for young musicians to explore their relationship with music. Here there are practice rooms and teaching studios where artist-faculty and students strive for perfection; common areas where musicians mingle and find mutual inspiration; and rehearsal halls where it all comes together.
The renovations were split into two phases so that we could continue to produce summer music festivals. In 2013, with Phase I completed, we opened the campus with new practice rooms, rehearsal halls, and performances spaces. At the start of the 2016 Festival Season, we unveiled the newly renovated Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum Campus. For renderings of the teaching campus, click here.
The new Matthew and Carolyn Bucksbaum Campus comprises:
• Three new rehearsal halls
• Thirty-two new teaching studios and an electronic media studio
• Orchestral and chamber music libraries
• Sixty-eight practice rooms
• A dining hall with exterior deck overlooking the ponds
• Administrative offices
• Two maintenance buildings
• Two historic nineteenth-century mining structures, including the Gordon Hardy Building
The AMFS shares facilities with the Aspen Country Day School, our tenant-partner since 1969. These two institutions have entered into a series of agreements to share ownership and use of the Campus going forward, and all buildings were designed for dual use.
