Marking 25 summers in Aspen, Anton Nel joins forces with fellow artist-faculty members in Mozart’s lyrical and passionate Second Piano Quartet, one of only two he composed in this form. Estampes will highlight Nel’s special affinity for Debussy, and the program concludes with Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, which shows off both the piano’s percussive and melodic personalities. One of the most brilliant and versatile pianists of our time, an inspiring and generous teacher, hiker, baker, foodie, world traveler, and all-around mensch on or off the bench – thank you, Anton, for 25 wonderful years!
