Christian Colberg Back To Artist-Faculty
Christian Colberg, viola, began his musical studies at the age of five in his native Puerto Rico. He is currently the principal viola of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Prior to joining the CSO, he was the assistant principal viola of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Colberg is currently the principal violist with the Bellingham Festival of Music and is a regular performer with the Linton Chamber Music Series, Sitka Summer Music Festival in Sitka, Alaska, and the Silk Road Festival in China. Christian Colberg has held teaching positions at both the Peabody Institute of Music and CCM. In October 2018, Mr. Colberg will perform his own Viola Concerto with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The second movement of his concerto, Aldonza, was used as the competition piece for the 2014 Primrose International Viola Competition. In June of 2018, his newest work, The Rant - For Two Violas, will be premiered at the International Viola Congress. He is a graduate of the Peabody Institute of Music, having studied under the tutelage of Charles Libove and Shirley Givens.
