Brad Gemeinhardt

Brad Gemeinhardt was appointed as principal horn of the Metropolitan Opera beginning with the 2022–23 season after having been a member of the MET Orchestra since 2007. Brad has performed in a wide variety of classical and commercial settings, including as guest principal horn with the Israel Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has performed in numerous Broadway shows, and with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, and San Francisco Symphony, among many others. In the recording industry, Brad has performed for television shows, radio jingles, and commercial recordings, and can be heard in many feature films, beginning with The Producers (2005) and continuing with The Joker (2019) and In the Heights (2021). In the coming year, Brad will once again be performing in the upcoming season of the All Star Orchestra, airing on local PBS stations. As a chamber musician, Brad performs regularly with the MET Orchestra Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, with recent performances including Brahms’s Trio for Horn, Violin, and Piano and J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1. Brad is a graduate of The Juilliard School where he studied horn with Jerome Ashby.
