Kantorei
Kantorei is pleased to be the choral ensemble-in-residence for AMFS in the summer of 2026. The Denver-based choral ensemble is comprised of volunteer singers under the direction of artistic director Joel M. Rinsema and was formed in 1997 under the leadership of artistic director Richard Larson. Kantorei has established itself as one of the nation’s premier choral ensembles. Its choral artists, who have studied at schools with strong music programs across the United States and serve in a wide variety of vocations, are all brought together in weekly rehearsals for shared artistic excellence and community. Frequently performing at major choral conventions across the U.S., Kantorei has also toured the world, sung under the batons of conductors of international acclaim, and commissioned and premiered choral works from renowned composers. Kantorei has released two recordings on the Naxos label: Sing, Wearing the Sky (2020), featuring choral music of Jake Runestad, and Infinity: Choral Works of Kim André Arnesen (2018). Their third international release, Song Offerings: Choral Music of Christopher Tin (2025) is on the Decca Gold label. Their fourth international release, which will include Randall Thompson’s Frostiana and Sarah Quartel’s A Winter Day, is anticipated in January 2027 on the MSR Classics label. Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Inc. publishes the Kantorei Choral series. Kantorei’s vision is “to elevate the human experience through choral excellence.”
