Kevin Cobb, trumpet, joined the American Brass Quintet in the fall of 1998 and with that appointment joined the faculties of The Juilliard School and the Aspen Music Festival and School. He is also on the faculties of Stony Brook University and New York University. Originally from Bowling Green, Ohio, he made his solo debut with the Toledo Symphony at age fifteen. After attending Interlochen Arts Academy, he earned degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School. In addition to his chamber music expertise, Mr. Cobb is a highly sought-after orchestral player performing as guest principal with such ensembles as the Philadelphia Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, New York City Ballet, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. As a versatile musician, he has shared the stage with Metallica, James Taylor, and Peter Gabriel, in addition to regularly performing with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and New York Philharmonic. Along with the recordings with the ABQ, he can also be frequently heard in television and radio commercials and in 2004 released his first solo CD entitled One on Summit Records, featuring an all American program of unaccompanied trumpet music.
