Simon Godwin

Simon Godwin is the Artistic Director of The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C. His shows for STC have included The Wild Duck, Uncle Vanya with Hugh Bonneville, Macbeth with Ralph Fiennes, Much Ado About Nothing, and King Lear with Patrick Page. Between 2014 and 2024, Simon was an Associate Director at the National Theatre in London where he directed Man and Superman with Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma, Antony and Cleopatra with Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo and the film of Romeo and Juliet with Jessie Buckley and Josh O'Connor. Other work includes Hamlet with Paapa Essiedu for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Measure for Measure for TFANA in Brooklyn. Opera productions include Romeo and Juliette for Glimmerglass and The Washington National Opera.
