Dan K. Kurland is establishing himself as one of today’s most talented and versatile collaborative pianists. A frequent performer in both vocal and instrumental repertories, he has performed at New York’s Steinway Hall, the DiMenna Center, and the Guggenheim Museum, as well as annual return engagements to Alice Tully Hall and Caramoor. Recent concert appearances include those with actress Tyne Daly, soprano Julia Bullock, violinists Francisco García Fullana and Charles Yang, cellist Julian Schwarz, string quintet SYBARITE5, and pianist Jonathan Feldman. His performances with tenor Spencer Lang continue their musical partnership, which led to the finalist prize at the 2015 Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition. He has served on the music staff for Wolf Trap Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, and Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance. During his time at The Juilliard School, Mr. Kurland founded the Vocal Arts Cabaret and curated the collaborative piano department’s Two Piano Concerts. He has served on the faculty of the Franco-American Vocal Academy (Périgueux, France) and earned his doctorate and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School, studying with Margo Garrett and Jonathan Feldman, and he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin with AMFS artist-faculty member Anton Nel. In August 2017, Mr. Kurland joins the full-time music staff as a solorepetitor at Theater Hagen, located in Germany.
