TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 5 in E minor, op. 64
Enjoy a concert full of orchestral color and dramatic expression under the direction of tomorrow’s conducting stars!
Los Angeles-based composer Celka Ojakangas was last year’s Aspen Music Festival Jacob Druckman Prize winner. She explores blurring boundaries between conventional genres, resulting in a fun and eclectic pallet of textures and rhythms designed to bring creativity and play to the listener’s and performer’s experience.
Bringing the concert to a rousing close is Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. The four movements are unified with a “motto theme,” commonly thought to represent the idea of Fate.
The run time for this performance is 1 hour 30 minutes.
