Discover a new keyboard talent when this summer’s Piano Competition Winner plays Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto, written after a long stay in Italy when the composer was only 22.
Mahler’s dramatic and triumphant Symphony No. 5 closes the program. It includes Mahler’s “greatest hit”: the exquisite Adagietto for strings and harp—a musical love letter to Alma Schindler, a socialite 20 years his junior who would soon become his wife.
