MENDELSSOHN: Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, op. 25

G. MAHLER: Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor
Discover a new keyboard talent when this summer’s Piano Competition Winner plays Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto, written after a long stay in Italy when the composer was only 22.
Mahler’s dramatic and triumphant Symphony No. 5 closes the program. It includes Mahler’s “greatest hit:” the exquisite Adagietto for strings and harp—a musical love letter to Alma Schindler, a socialite 20 years his junior who would soon become his wife.
See the season’s final concert by the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra and celebrate the accomplishments of tomorrow’s conducting stars!
The run time for this performance is 1 hour 30 minutes.
