Dive deeper into the music of the Aspen Festival Orchestra’s opening Sunday concert! Enjoy AMFS Music Director Robert Spano conducting the Prelude to Act 1 and the “Good Friday Spell” before coming home and placing it in the context of the entire opera with this special livestream of the Vienna State Opera’s production of Wagner’s Parsifal. Philippe Jordan conducts Wagner’s transcendent work, with star tenor Jonas Kaufmann as the knight Parsifal and mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča as Kundry. Stage director Kirill Serebrennikov transplants the medieval tale to a modern prison.
