Sharon Isbin, multiple Grammy Award winner, was named Musical America’s 2020 Instrumentalist of the Year, the first guitarist in their fifty-nine year award history. Winner of the ARD Munich, Toronto, and Madrid competitions, Germany’s Echo Klassik, and Guitar Player’s Best Classical Guitarist awards, she has performed as soloist with over 200 orchestras, at the White House by invitation of President Obama, in Scorsese’s Oscar-winning The Departed, and as the only classical artist in the 2010 Grammy Awards. Recent highlights include sold-out performances at the Kennedy Center, at Carnegie Hall, and with Sting. The documentary Sharon Isbin: Troubadour aired on over 200 PBS stations, won the 2015 ASCAP TV Broadcast Award, and is available on DVD/Blu-ray and Amazon streaming. Her discography of thirty-five recordings includes Souvenirs of Spain & Italy with the Pacifica Quartet, and most recently Strings for Peace with Amjad Ali Khan and Affinity: World Premiere Recordings, both named Best of 2020 by SiriusXM and NPR, among others.
