Amy Lee

Violinist Amy Lee joined The Cleveland Orchestra as Associate Concertmaster in 2008. She has appeared as soloist many times with the ensemble, including performances of Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto at Blossom Music Center, Arvo Pärt’s Fratres featured on the Orchestra’s Adella streaming platform, and Igor Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in collaboration with the Joffrey Ballet. A native of Seoul, Korea, Lee made her solo debut with The Philadelphia Orchestra at age fifteen and entered The Curtis Institute of Music the following year. After earning her bachelor’s degree there, she completed her master’s degree at The Juilliard School.

Praised for her expressive artistry and technical command, Lee has appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. She was the first-prize winner of the Irving M. Klein International String Competition and the Corpus Christi International Competition for Piano and Strings.

An active chamber musician, Lee is a member of the Omni Quartet and Ensemble HD, and is a former member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two. She also participates regularly in the Marlboro Music Festival and teaches and performs at several leading summer festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Kent Blossom Music Festival, Ascent Music Festival, and Strings Music Festival.

Dedicated to mentoring the next generation of musicians, Lee joined the faculty of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music as Associate Professor of Violin in the fall of 2024. She has also been on the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music coaching chamber music and previously served for a decade at Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music.
