Raymond Mase

Chair of the brass department of The Juilliard School since 1991, trumpeter Raymond Mase has enjoyed a diverse career as soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and teacher. As a member of the American Brass Quintet from 1973 to 2013, Mr. Mase performed worldwide, premiered more than one hundred new works for brass, and contributed countless editions of Renaissance and nineteenth-century music to the ABQ library and the quintet’s highly acclaimed recordings. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Naumberg Orchestra, Summit Brass, at the Aspen and Bethlehem Bach festivals, and in recitals with the trumpet and organ duo Toccatas & Flourishes. Mr. Mase is retired principal trumpet of the New York City Ballet Orchestra, has performed and recorded with the New York Philharmonic, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Orpheus, and Musica Sacra, and can be heard on more than 140 recordings, including two solo CDs, Trumpet in Our Time and Trumpet Vocalise. He has been artist/faculty member of the Aspen Music Festival and School since 1973.
