This concert is bookended by two very famous chaconnes. The program concludes with a transcription of Bach's legendary Chaconne from the Violin Partita #2. To begin we have a chaconne by Buxtehude, the composer whom Bach walked 200 miles to see. Sandwiched between these monumental pieces are colorful works of Bach, John Ireland, and American composer Dana Suesse. At the heart of the program is Herbert Howells' haunting musical depiction of Psalm 23:4. - Aaron Patterson
