Amy Semes

Violinist Amy Semes joined the Houston Symphony in 2019 and currently serves as third chair in the second violin section. She has also performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and spends her summers performing at the Grand Teton Music Festival. She has appeared as a soloist with the Houston Symphony and many orchestras in China, including the Shanghai Philharmonic.

An active chamber musician, Ms. Semes performs frequently throughout Houston and serves as a board member of Third Space Music, an organization dedicated to raising funds for local charities in Houston. In addition to her performing career, she maintains a private teaching studio in Houston, where she enjoys mentoring young violinists.

Ms. Semes earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Naoko Tanaka, and her Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she studied with Kathleen Winkler.
