Anthony Dean Griffey

Four-time Grammy winning tenor Anthony Dean Griffey has captured critical and popular acclaim on opera, concert and recital stages around the world. Since 2015 Griffey has served as Professor of Voice at the University of Rochester- Eastman School of Music. His students have gone on to attend prestigious young artist programs, win international competitions and appear in opera houses and symphony halls all over the world.
Over the course of nearly 30 years, Griffey has performed leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Los Angeles Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Opéra Nationale de Paris, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, San Diego Opera, Canadian Opera Company and Opera Australia; as well as made operatic appearances at the Glyndebourne, Bregenz, Glimmerglass, Mostly Mozart, Saito Kinen and Aspen festivals.
A celebrated concert performer, Griffey has appeared with many distinguished international orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestrede Paris, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, and many others. The list of acclaimed conductors he has worked with includes Robert Spano, James Conlon, Sir Andrew Davis, Sir Colin Davis, Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Patrick Summers, Andre Previn, Yannick Nezet – Seguin, Michael Tilson Thomas, Edo de Waart, and Jaap van Zweden.
An avid recitalist, Griffey made his Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall solo recital debut in 2004. Griffey has been presented with his long-time pianist and collaborator Warren Jones by many prestigious recital series throughout the world. In the spring of 2006 he had the distinction of being invited by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to perform a recital at the Supreme Court of the United States.
