Giovanni Andrea Zanon began playing the violin at age two and at four became the youngest violinist in Italian history to attend one of the country’s state conservatories. Upon the advice of Zubin Mehta, he moved to New York to study at the Manhattan School of Music where he graduated at 18 with a master’s degree from the Pinchas Zukerman Performance Program. In February 2022, he represented Italy in the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Olympics Games in Beijing. The event was broadcast worldwide and reached more than a billion viewers. In his Aspen debut, he’s joined by Canadian pianist Tony Siqi Yun, whose compelling performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto wowed the Aspen audience last summer.
