Jaclyn Rainey is associate principal horn of the Minnesota Orchestra. Before joining the Orchestra in 2022, Rainey was the principal horn of the Atlanta Symphony and associate principal horn with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as previous positions. 

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Rainey has also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. She has spent summers performing at the Tanglewood Music Center, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Chautauqua Institution, Festival Mozaic, Lakes Area Music Festival, and Mainly Mozart.  

Rainey was a winner in the National MTNA Senior Brass Competition. When not performing, she has served on the faculty of Emory University and Georgia State University, in addition to maintaining a private teaching studio. Rainey joined the faculty of the University of Minnesota School of Music in the fall of 2024. 

She received her undergraduate degree in horn performance from the Eastman School of Music, followed by a master’s degree at the New England Conservatory of Music, and has studied with W. Peter Kurau, Richard Sebring, and James Sommerville.
