Costs, Payment, and Refund Policy

The following information reflects costs, payments, and policies for the AMFS's 2024 Season. Please return in August 2024 for information about the 2025 season.

Fee Descriptions

Security Deposit:  The $100 security deposit is required of all students and is refundable subject to completion of the checkout procedure and completion of the Student Exit Survey. After all applicable fees have been paid for damages or unreturned items, any remaining balance of security deposit will be refunded by credit card or check, following the season of attendance. Credit card refunds will be processed by September 30. Checks will be mailed by September 30 to the address provided in the Security Deposit Return Form.

Health Service Fee:  The health service fee is required of all students and provides access to free doctor visits at Aspen Primary Care, counseling, and physical therapy. All permanent and seasonal residents may take advantage of the services offered by Community Health Services. (Some services are free and personal insurance is accepted for those that are not.)

Facility Fee:  The Facility Fee is required of all students and provides access to AMFS facilities and amenities.

 

Deposit, Payment, and Refund Policy

Students are required to pay a non-refundable tuition and housing deposit at the time of enrollment to secure their place in the AMFS class. Deposits will be applied toward the total cost of attendance, and any overpayment will be refunded approximately one week after registration. Students who are placed in on-campus housing and subsequently withdraw or cancel their housing reservation will forfeit their deposits. Fellowship students who request on-campus housing and then subsequently withdraw that request will forfeit $1,000 from the fellowship stipend. In addition, once a student has enrolled in the program or registered in Aspen, all deposits, payments, and fees (including tuition and room and board) are non-refundable except in the case of medical emergencies as approved by the Dean or visa-related issues that prevent a student from traveling to Aspen.

HOW TO MAKE PAYMENTS

Online payments can be made through the Student Portal of the student’s AMFS account. Checks should be mailed to 225 Music School Road, Aspen, CO 81611 and made payable to the Aspen Music Festival and School. Include student name and reference number in the notes. There will be a $25 insufficient funds charge for returned checks. A single payment of the full balance is encouraged; however, an installment plan is available to help students/parents meet their financial obligations. The Installment Plan Request form is available on the AMFS Student Portal. 

MEAL PLAN 

The Room & Board cost includes a meal plan providing three meals per day at AMFS cafeterias. Those who elect to live on-campus receive a meal plan. Those who elect to live off-campus do not receive a meal plan. A fellowship student who elects to live off-campus may spend a portion of their stipend on an add-on meal plan or individual meals.  

CANCELLATION POLICY

AMFS reserves the right to make necessary programmatic adjustments up to full cancellation, in the case of unforeseen circumstances. Unforeseen circumstances is used to describe an event that prevents the AMFS from proceeding with programming in traditional fashion. Examples of such circumstances can include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, site unavailability, health and safety risks, and technology issues. 

In the event that the AMFS must rescind a student’s offer of admission due to unforeseen circumstances, tuition and housing deposits/fees will be refunded. Application fees are not refundable.
